Scawfell Genetics is the proud owner of a bull stud & semen collection facility in Cumbria.
Scawfell Genetics was founded in 2012 by Peter Sherwen after a long career as a dairy farmer.
We care deeply about the livestock that we keep on-site and do everything possible to make the bulls at the bull stud feel as comfortable as possible.
The bulls are kept in excellent spacious living conditions which are custom built to suit their needs. This allows us to keep the bulls in a safe and secure environment.
The Scawfell Genetics Bull stud offers cattle genetics services including Semen Collection, On Farm Collection, Semen Storage, Semen Processing and now a brand new dedicated Semen Sales platform ibreeder.
AI Services
Quarantine
Bulls arriving on our bull stud go into an isolation pen while they have all their tests, usually for around a month, however, it can take longer occasionally. If they pass the tests they can be moved into the main bull stud.
Collection
Once on the main bull stud semen collection can begin. Semen is collected using natural collection with a teaser as it offers a higher quality sample with a higher fertility rate than electroejaculation.
Storage
Scawfell Genetics is proud to announce the opening of it’s new semen store facility on our bull stud in Cumbria. This is a huge opportunity in the development of the scope of our capabilities within the genetics industry.
